Yme Bosma is supervising the Rockstart Smart Energy Accelerator program and mentors the the 10 startups currently involved. The international program helps participating startups to bring their product or service faster to market and this year it includes startups from the Ukraine, Greece, Chili, The Netherlands, Israel, UK, Romania, France, Spain and Germany.
After 15 years of working for online companies such as Lost Boys, Media Republic and Hyves, Yme decided to take a sabbatical and went for a long sailing trip with his family. After the sailing trip he decided to invest and participate in initiatives focusing on internet, energy and sustainability. His first project was building a boat that runs on solar- and electrical energy. After that, he was asked to join Rockstart to supervise the international Smart Energy Accellerator Programme.
Yme was part of the Hyves Management Team between 2007 and 2012 and responsible for business development. In cooperation with their partners he developed new services and products for the platform. At that time Hyves was the largest social network of The Netherlands, with approximately 7,5 million active users (which is almost half of the population). The fast growing social network was founded in 2004 and sold in 2010 to the Telegraaf Media Groep.
Before working with Hyves, Yme was involved in the Eccky Project from Media Republic, worked as a strategy consultant for Lost Boys and at Young & Rubicam in Dubai and Tel Aviv.
Yme blogs about the impact of technology on business at Ymerce. He speaks about a number of different subjects, all on the cutting edge of technology, innovation, society, marketing and sustainability.
